Music and Dances

In Kanayan Dayak tradition, there are several types of dances with and without props, which are performed during rituals, and ceremonies, at time such as rice planting and harvest.
Musical instruments of the bukat people are made from atype of bamboo called betung, the namesake for mount Betung in the national park.Satu, aplucking instrument, is made by separating ling pieces of the outerskin from the stem of a bamboo segment and fastening them with wedges.
A percussion instrument, tabut, is also made from betung bamboo and simply cut in different lengths or rom different sized stems to produce the three tone needed.
Sape is a four-stringed guitar-like instrument which, like gongs and drums, is typical of the Dayak music tradition.
